Our History
Shamrock Kennels is located in American Canyon, (Napa County) which is the gateway city to the beautiful Napa Valley in California. We are conveniently located off of Highway 29. We are a 45 minute drive from San Francisco and Oakland and an hour from Sacramento. A brisk 10 minutes will get you right into the heart of downtown Napa. Sonoma and Marin counties are also 35-40 minutes away.
We are a home-run, small, family business, and we pride ourselves on being able to deliver the wide variety of expertise you would expect from active dog show people, a 16 year experienced, all-breed dog groomer, and the warmth of the home enviornment our patrons are treated to. We offer all-breed dog grooming, show and obedience training, and limited boarding; limited to the number of dogs we take in during a period of time. Our boarders are able to feel the comforts of home by interacting with our children, coming in our home, and spending time with our own highly socialized four-legged family members.
Shamrock Kennels was founded in 2007 by the husband and wife team of Cody and Jess Carpenter.   
In our combined lifetime experience we have owned bulldogs, an American Staffordshire Terrier, Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, Akita, Doberman Pinscher, Miniature Pinscher, Giant, and Miniature Schnauzers, Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundlands, mixed breeds, a Pug, and now our kennel breed, Basset Hounds. So, with our background in dogs we most certainly wanted to continue having them around. Our experience doesn't only stop with dogs. We've owned cats, birds, fish, and even a ball python!
Make no mistake, we are NOT regular breeders! We have only bred two litters in our entire lives. We focus on rescue placements, breeder referrals, grooming, showing, and gaining as much knowledge as possible on domestic and some exotic animals. Animals are our passion and our second generation is already becoming involved in this love.
We feel so fortunate to have been able to experience the highs and lows that come along with responsible animal ownership through the experience of owning and handling different species.
